We were called upon to replace the balustrade rail right across the front of this beautiful Georgian house, the home owner had asked several companies to undertake the work but no one wanted to take the job on as nothing was straight forward, the cast iron spindles were all different sizes and different gaps between them, many weren't straight, but we were happy to take on the job that others weren't too keen on.
Although it isn't restoration we made and installed these secret doors in 2 panelled rooms, one is triggered by a hidden leaver, the other is opened by putting a finger into a hole in the cast iron radiator cover and moving a trigger which makes the door fall open on its own.
When the home owners extended their home with a loft conversion we were asked by the architect to make the banister rail to continue on from the existing stair case and continue round 3 corners to complete the run up to the new floor, this included making two big curved sections, one right angle corner and then re-polishing the whole handrail from top to bottom to match.
